STEM DIscovery Day
Take your classroom to Camp Blodgett for a day of hands-on STEM exploration at Camp Blodgett. Foster your students’ curiosity through indoor and outdoor learning opportunities designed to engage even the most challenging learners. Interested in designing a marshmallow shooters or hovercraft? How about learning more about how music and STEM are one in the same? We offer a wide array of STEM activities that will for sure provide the FUN, while also providing education to the class. Can’t bring your class to us? Ask how we may be able to connect with you in your class for an in-school STEM Discovery day or series that aligns with NGSS content standards for your classroom. (This is presently only available in Kent County.)

Roller coaster Design
- How can potential energy and kinetic energy be used in roller coaster design? Students can learn how to apply concepts of potential energy, kinetic energy, and centripetal force by designing rollercoaster tracks and testing their tracks by sending a marble down for an exciting ride! Creativity and multiple loops and turns are highly encouraged. This activity tends to be a favorite for many groups we have done this with! This activity follows the next Gen Standards MS-PS2, MS-PS3, and MS-ETS1
Elephant Toothpaste & other chemical reactions
- Grab a pair of gloves and goggles and prepare to become a chemist. Students will use household items and other safe chemicals to create elephant toothpaste, and experiment with creating other chemical reactions! Next Gen Standard MS-PS1
Robotics (based on availability of Robotics Instructors)
- Have students that may be interested in learning about Robotics? Students will have access to our NEW robots and will learn how to build and bring these robots to life through programming! A great hands-on activity to get the students building and learning how to create simple programs and code. On top of that, no Robotics experience is necessary! Next Gen Standard MS-ETS1
Music & STEM:
- So much STEM takes place behind sound and music! Students will have the ability to learn more about sound waves and frequencies. They will then be able to play and try out multiple instruments ranging from drums, guitars, ukuleles, slide guitar, keyboard and many more! Upon completion, students will have the opportunity the write a song, poem, or rap about the environment or topics of their choice (depending on time & availability of staff and equipment songs may be recorded/produced using music software).
